Summary / Synopsis

Exodus by Kate Stewart is the emotional second installment in The Ravenhood trilogy—a story that trades mystery for heartbreak, forcing its heroine to confront love, loss, and the brutal truth behind the life she once romanticized.

After the devastating events of Flock, Cecilia Horner is no longer the naïve girl who fell for Sean and Dominic. Shattered by betrayal and grief, she’s left trying to piece together not only her heart but also the truth about the Ravenhood—the secretive group that blurred the lines between justice and crime. What she once saw as thrilling and intoxicating now feels dangerous, complicated, and impossible to ignore.

As Cecilia searches for answers, she’s pulled deeper into a world she can’t escape, one where loyalty comes at a cost and love is anything but simple. The men she trusted still haunt her, especially Dominic King, whose presence is as consuming as it is painful. Torn between holding on and letting go, Cecilia must decide who she is outside of them—and whether love is worth the destruction it leaves behind.

Raw, angsty, and deeply emotional, Exodus explores grief, identity, and the consequences of loving people who live in the gray. It’s a story about breaking, rebuilding, and realizing that sometimes the hardest truths are the ones that set you free.

My Takes

I read Flock in March of 2025 and was underwhelmed. So, I put off reading Exodus. Right now I am so sorry I did. This book has wrecked me in the best ways. Dom and Sean hurt me as much as they hurt Cecilia and I went into this book thinking they would fight their way back to her. Of course, Kate Stewart went another way and has built me back up and the Frenchman is so wrong he is right. I am so mad at myself for waiting a year to read book two! The improvements in story line, character growth and all the other issues I had with Flock are not in this book. The spicy seance are hot and passionate and perfect for the context.

Now, the emotional part of my take. This book had me on the edge of my seat, not able to sit still or focus. I was in tears one minute, mad the next. It was such an emotional roller coaster that I am going to retreat back to my safe books and catch my breath. Even the day after I am completely hung over and hung up on this story. I am nervous and scared that Finish Line will be even more of a wild rapid than Exodus was.
