Summary / Synopsis

Survival is the only lesson my childhood ever taught me. Trust gets you hurt, and love is a weakness I can’t afford. So I built walls—steel and ice—and I don’t let anyone close enough to break them.
Especially not Reed Ryan.
He’s everything I’m supposed to despise. A fighter. A runner. Devastatingly handsome in the kind of way that promises regret. Tattoos etched with heartbreak, danger written into every sharp line of him. The ultimate bad boy… and a cop. I know better than to let him in.
But Reed doesn’t retreat when I push him away. He doesn’t flinch when I fight. When I brace for abandonment, he stands his ground—and when he touches me, my carefully guarded heart betrays me completely.
What Reed doesn’t know is that every lie I tell him carries a shard of truth. I’m haunted by demons that refuse to loosen their grip, secrets that could shatter everything we’re building. And now one of them has surfaced, threatening not just me—but the man I never meant to fall for.
Because this time, survival might cost us both.

My Takes

This book is an absolute masterpiece of emotional depth, heart-pounding tension, and swoon-worthy romance. From the very first page, I was captivated by her ability to weave together a story that is as raw and real as it is beautifully written.

The characters in Lie to Me are nothing short of extraordinary. McAdams crafts her protagonists with such depth and vulnerability that they leap off the page and straight into your heart. Their flaws, their struggles, and their triumphs feel achingly real, and their journey kept me hooked until the very last word. Every moment, every twist, and every revelation feels earned and powerful.
